FRIED GOAT CHEESE

February 4, 2019

THIS IS EASY TO MAKE. Please be aware of that and not scared, or indifferent. Fried goat cheese is good ALL BY ITSELF. And then also in many iterations such as on crackers, on a baguette, or ON A SALAD. An absurd amount of things go well with goat cheese. Just to name a few – blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, pesto, apricot, garlic, fig, cranberries, like, all nuts, pomegranate, rosemary. For this one I did HONEY and PISTACHIOS.

A little extra something that makes it even more really really good.

Fried Goat Cheese
Serves 15 fried goat cheese balls

8 ounces goat cheese
1/4 cup flour
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
A dash of red pepper flake
Vegetable oil
1/4 cup chopped pistachios
Honey

Roll goat cheese into one inch balls. Chill goat cheese in freezer. Place flour in a bowl. Whisk together egg and water in a second bowl. In a third bowl combine bread crumbs, thyme, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and red pepper flake. Remove goat cheese from freezer. Coat goat cheeses in flour, then egg wash, then bread crumb mixture.

Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet so it is about 1/2 an inch deep. Heat oil over medium-high heat. Fry goat cheese for about 1 minute on each side. Serve with chopped pistachios and drizzled with honey.

This recipe looks wonderful. Do you store leftover at room temperature or in the fridge? I love your recipes and definitely want to try most of them. I don’t think there is enough time in my life, lol.

    Thanks and be well. Carole

I’d do the fridge, but they’re definitely best right away. Thanks so much Carole :)

I think that it’s one thing to say that something isn’t for you, which is obviously fine, but another to call something “filth” and to say that people who enjoy it are rationalizing. People choosing to like a certain kind of movie seems just as valid as your choosing not to like it.

      Kristen,

Thanks for your message. I’m writing from a Christian perspective, so there are things that I do define as wrong, bad, or “filth” (in this specific case) based on my beliefs. I’m in no place to condemn anyone for what they choose to watch or not watch – so my hope is that I did not communicate that to you. If so, I apologize. While I do not condemn anyone, there are also things I don’t condone. Thanks again.

  • I made this and blogged about it here:http://imake2.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/fried-goats-cheese.html
    Unbelievably delicious! Thanks!

      You’re welcome!

  • I can’t stand being exposed to violence, especially as ‘entertainment.’ I feel upset for days.

  • Amy Krachenfels

I totally agree with you on the movie thing. Yes, some people aren’t as affected as others when it comes to swearing, violence, etc, but we are all as believers told to guard our heart (Prvb 4:23) . I am definitely on the more sensitive side when it comes to what I watch because everything affects me. I’ve learned to just say no and not apologize for it, if someone asks me to what something that will violate my conscience. It’s better than having to obscenities replayed in my mind for days after. I appreciate your take on this. The recipe looks yummy, too!

That’s great, Amy. I believe that means God has blessed you with a good, strong conscience.
