HOMEMADE GINGER SAUCE

March 27, 2013

What is it about hibachi grills that is so good. Even after the shock and awe of them wielding a huge fireball has worn off, I cannot get enough of those places. It has become a special place for David and me to eat for fun occasions. David’s absolute favorite part of the whole experience? THE GINGER SAUCE. He asks for double every time. So, I had to make some for him to slather on food at home too. This version is tasty, fresh, and even good for you.

Best recipe I’ve found! To make more Japanese hibachi style, and more chunky and delicious, use half a yellow onion, and no vinagrette (I didn’t use carrots or peppers) and it tasted just like hibachi maybe better it was so delicous!!! Thanks for this recipe

Hi, what kind of soy sauce are you using?

I had had this recipe pinned on my “To Try” board for a while. I finally made it tonight and it was absolutely delicious!! I put it on a salad with seared tuna and my husband could not stop raving about it. Afterwards, he ate what was left directly out of the blender with bread. LOL This is now moving to the “Greatest Hits” board! Thanks for the great recipe.

    David and me… :)

This sounds divine! Thanks so much for sharing.

  • OMG!!!! im so excited to make this Im severely addicted to ginger dressing but not just any ginger dressing. I literally overdose on it every time i go to sushi and my mom mentioned to me that they use carrots in their recipe cause it was thick, so since i see that its an ingredient in yours and your looks very similar I have to try to make this ASAP. Thanks for your post on this, i will comment on its taste once I’m done making it.

Hi Rachel, I am going to try your ginger sauce recipe, but could you please clarifiy what you mean by “1 green onion”? It may have a different meaning in the UK, so thought I should check.

    • Rachel Schultz

One stem, not an entire bundle : )

    • Carol

Green onion in North America, Spring onion in the UK. hope this helps.

I made this recipe twice now, first time following recipe and the second adding more ginger. Both were edible but nothing like they serve at a sushi place. I was disappointed that the taste was not even close yet it was still good.

Hi Rachel, I just wanted to let you know that this font is very hard to read. Still love visiting your blog tho. :)

    • Rachel Schultz

      Thanks! I’ll change it.

Cool, is this the dressing they use on the salads? How else do you guys use it?

    • Rachel Schultz

Yes. We use it on stir fry or salads mostly.
