PUPPY CHOW COOKIES

November 23, 2013

Is this perhaps the most revolutionary thing I’ve ever made? It certainly is. (We’re talking revolutionary within the food snacking world only. This isn’t some new political system or anything).

I remember the first time I had puppy chow was at a friend’s birthday slumber party in 8th grade. That’s kind of old to have never had puppy chow (aka muddy buddies). My eyes were opened. I felt I had never lived before. I could see new colors. Fortunately, eating too much puppy chow is likely the craziest thing I did at a sleepover in middle school.

I continue to relish crossing paths with the Chow. Every time I taste it, I recall it’s perfect, sweet crunch. Now a new era has dawned, the era of the cookie. Will this cause me to eat more or less of it, I’m not sure. In the one sense, I can eat a whole bowl of the cereal version and have felt like I just had a nibble. In another way, eating a cookie is a large, more efficient vessel to get peanut butter and powdered sugar into my mouth. We may never know, but if you’ve ever loved puppy chow – this one goes out to you.
