JUNK FOOD BROWNIES

Every movie has the scene where the young hero suggests some wild course of action and the group is ready to dismiss them. Then, the old, trusted sage says, “that’s crazy enough that it just might work.” And then, of course, it does work.

These brownies are kind of that moment for me. As soon as you saw potato chips and brownies, I might have lost you. But, these are actually crazy enough that they work. Salted caramel is not a big leap. So caramel potato chips and caramel is pretty much the same thing. With chocolate thrown in. And a whole bunch of other treats. Think of this recipe as a big trust fall into my arms.

JUNK FOOD BROWNIES from Rachel Schultz

JUNK FOOD BROWNIES
Serves about 12 brownies

1 batch really good brownies
1 cup popcorn, popped
2 cups potato chips, crumbled
1 cup pretzels
1/4 cup hot fudge sauce
1/4 cup caramel

Preheat oven and prepare brownie batter.

REALLY GOOD BROWNIES from Rachel Schultz

Begin baking brownies. 5 minutes before end of bake time, remove pan from oven. Sprinkle and slightly press popcorn, potato chips, and pretzels into tops of brownies. Return to oven and continue baking. Drizzle with hot fudge and caramel.
