MAKING ENGINEER PRINTS

September 3, 2014

A big gallery wall has been coming together in our master bedroom. It has included lots of DIY’s and garage saling which are pretty much my two favorite things. I plan to share details on all the little projects we did for it, starting with this one. I heard rumblings you can make mega-prints at staples and other similar office stores for extremely cheap. I popped in at staples and fed ex to price check and it is totally true! I found staples prices to be better and had this ginormous image made there.

They are called “engineer prints.” A 3′ x 4′ one costs only $5 and they will make any smaller size for a prorated amount. I did a 18″ x 24″ for about $2.

The one caveat is the image quality is not meant to be very high. It worked just fine for my project, since I was blowing up an old photo of david’s grandparents on their wedding day in black and white.

Any imperfections in the print just added to the vintage feel of it. We love it! It now hangs next to a cross-stitch David’s grandma made for us on our wedding day. I do not expect this to be the last one of these prints I make!
