We have completed our NEXT TO LAST ROOM. The end is in sight and adrenaline is carrying me there. Before we did not count down on number of remaining rooms because there were so many that it would have only been discouraging.
Now, I am freely imagining what our lives will be like when the floors in our house are just like, there. For us to walk on. Without having to labor by the sweat of our brow.
The basement workspace will not be perpetually covered in three inches of saw dust and a million piece of wood scraps! Our son’s room will not have huge boxes of wood stored in it! My laundry baskets will not always be in short supply because they are filled with planks being sorted and moved around! The garage will not be half taken up by empty boxes and carpet rolls waiting to be disposed of! We will not have furniture always weirdly displaced in the wrong rooms! We can give our friend his floor nailer back! (Bless him.)
I love how this room has changed with the new flooring instead of the old, stained carpet. For a rug in here I plan on something neutral, probably a white. For the walls, I want a pretty dusty blush pink and at some point board and batten with floral wallpaper.
Renovating the flooring in our house has been part of our lives for over a year. It is kind of our normal now, so this really feels like the end of an era. We welcome it!
It will be refreshing for our free time to have change of pace and I can focus on furnishing, decorating, and finishing a whole room (!).
