SUNRISE SMOOTHIE

November 1, 2012

As I write this, it is seventy three degrees in michigan on October 25th. For some strange-for-the-season weather in many parts of the country, let’s take a flashback to the hot summer nights where we’d sip one of these on a deck in a tank top. Do you think of smoothies as dessert or they are pretty exclusively nutritious or health oriented? I think it can go either way. Sometimes I want a very healthy green one, other times a more or less smoothie milkshake.

SUNRISE SMOOTHIE
Serves 3-4

2 cups strawberries, sliced
2 cup seedless watermelon
2 peaches
1 cup raspberry sherbet
1/4 cup orange juice

Combine ingredients in blender until smooth and serve.

  • I love that some of your smoothie recipes don’t call for either dairy or bananas! I am allergic to bananas, and my nursing little one is allergic to dairy, wheat, and peanuts. So, you know, hard to please both of us! Stuff like this and your pineapple smoothie are perfect and so tasty. Too bad we’re not in watermelon season anymore, but next summer, baby, I’m giving this one a try!

Thanks! I don’t really like bananas in smoothies, personally.
