My aunt-in-law (that sounds too formal, so we’ll just say aunt) Diane made us some great coasters for our wedding shower and we have used them tons ever since. Her crafty idea gave me the thought to make some more, using photos for a polaroid-y feel.

Pesonalized Photo Coasters DIY from Rachel Schultz

  1. Ceramic tiles (these are from Home Depot)
  2. Felt (from any craft store)
  3. Modge podge & brush
  4. Your pretty pictures, trimmed to fit tiles

  1. Hot glue felt to the back side of tile.
  2. On the flip side, do one layer of modge podge, and press your photo into place.
  3. Paint modge podge over the top of photo.
  4. Allow to dry for a few minutes.
  5. Apply another coat and allow to dry. It will be dry to touch in a few hours, but before you stack them, let them dry several days. Fuzz from the felt will get into the modge podge if they’re not totally dry.

Now you can have some friends over just to use your coasters and party and talk about yourself. Just kidding, don’t do that!

Does the modge podge coating on top protect the photos from water damage? Looking into making this project I’ve noticed others use a spray over the modge podge coating.

I’ve never needed an additional spray!

    Love this idea!

  • I think I need to try this. I’ve been needed coasters for the longest time, putting them in my online shopping cart and then removing them a dozen plus times but never willing to spend so much money something I didn’t love. This would be perfect because I don’t put a lot of pictures out. Thanks for the idea!
