On the social medias, (facebook, twitter, insta) I opened up the floor for you all to ask questions to celebrate these mighty fine two years. This is what happened as a result.

YEAR TWO from Rachel Schultz

What is your favorite cookbook(s)? I have to show love to Katie Quinn Davies’ What Katie Ate. It’s just filthy gorgeous.

What is your and David’s most frequent argument about? Oh my, um. Probably where/what to eat, actually. I get hangry easily.

Which kitchen tools are your favorite? I love falcon enamelware. And pretty much any baking or storage container that pyrex has ever done. And my kitchenaid mixer, of course!

What is your favorite part of blogging? My favorite part of blogging is that it is compatible with being a stay at home mom (some day).

What is your least favorite part of blogging? Isolation while working. I’ve realized I’m more extroverted than I once thought!

What are the baby names you say you’ve picked out in your about me? Top secret! They’re actually not totally even picked out, more just a short list.

What’s your favorite dinner dish to make for a large crowd? Cheesy Chicken & Wild Rice Casserole. I do this a lot for sympathy meals for people at church too.

What music do you listen to while you cook? I’m a really strange bird who does not really like music. I would rather hear a podcast or sermons, or maybe even a movie or TV show streaming.

For those trying to stick with New Years Resolutions and still get our chocolate fix, what is your favorite healthy chocolate dessert to make? My easy favorite is Roasted Strawberry & Chocolate Brie Grilled Cheese!

What is your favorite Bible verse? Maybe Psalm 127:1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”

Did you go to college? What was your major? I’m a proud Michigan State University alumni and I have my bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies.

Are you going to have a TV show? This one elicits a big HA! from me when people ask it. I get bashful and embarrassed. I’ll say maybe, but probably not. I would be so particular about how the show would have to be that I’m not sure anyone would want to accommodate me. It’d have to be filmed in my house in a one-take, me and David chatting while cooking, kind of way. But NOT a reality show. Like I said, very particular.

Are you going to write a book? Sure!

If silverware didn’t exist, what food would you have to stop eating? Probably a lot. I hate eating with my hands. It grosses me out for most foods.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor? I’m not a huge ice cream lover! I think ice cream is a “side dish” for desserts. It’s meant to compliment cobblers, cakes, brownies, etc. not stand on its own. I know, so controversial. If I did eat one, I’d want one loaded with goodies in it so it’s not just plain, boring cream. I like those frozen yogurt buffet, pay-by-weight places.

What do your friends think of the blog? My friends and people at our church are really nice and supportive. My closest friends don’t really care much, which is funny. They don’t check the blog really or care about what I have to say since they hear enough of me in real life. How ironic, right? I get a lot more love from strangers.

With an unlimited income, what would you buy (for your home?) I want this couch! Also, this buffet. Dream on, Rach.

My New Cookbook

So I just found your blog today! As I was browsing my husband called to ask if I needed anything from the store. I’ve been obsessing over muffins lately so he’s getting the ingredients to make the Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins. EXCITED!

Anyways, I too had a list of baby names when I was pregnant with my daughter. I wanted to name her Lux Olivia but my husband shot that down. I gave him an alphabetized list of every name I liked and told him to just pick. All the way down he was rejecting them until the last one, Vera. We love Pink Floyd and coincidentally “Vera” is the name of one of their songs. So now we have a gorgeous girlie named Vera Eve and then came along her brother, Jack Valentine.

Whelp, wow this is a long comment! Can’t wait to explore your site more!

      Thanks Michelle!

  • I don’t think you’re a strange bird at all! I prefer podcasts too. My favorite is This American Life. And in the car, I pretty much always have the radio on NPR. I’d love to hear any other suggestions for good podcasts.

  • Mid century peices ? I’m surprised! I didn’t realize that estetetic was in your wheelhouse. Also, thanks for sharing the enamel link – what do you own / use? Do you buy it direct from Falcon?

Can’t wait for the big surprise tomorrow!

I have the prep set and love it.

i love Q+A posts, so interesting. I agree with you about the ice cream bit — luckily I work at one of those pay-by-weight fro-yo shops though, ;)
