2014

December 31, 2014

The biggest mark on this year was my pregnancy and the birth of our son. We found out we were pregnant in January, so it really was his year from start to finish.

February meant two years have been clocked in on this blog. I celebrated the blogiversary with a full week of internet-y and reflective posts.

As has become a tradition with us, we have an Oscar party and ballot contest. I do not know why we do this because we are pretty uninterested in Hollywood and see essentially none of the movies nominated. Not sure if this tradition will stick for much longer, but I did make this pistachio & goat cheese ball for the party, so that definitely will not hurt.

By April, you all had your first taste of the Rachel & Friends podcast, with our first episode (and to date one of my favorites!) Honoring God Through Eating Habits. I almost cannot believe the podcast just started this year because so much has already come from it. We really love this new addition to the site.

May was a big month – my birthday, our anniversary, and knowledge of my pregnancy was now out in the open! I loved writing this post about being pregnant. And trying my first hand at making little movies for the blog for my birthday. I was very sick on our anniversary and my first mother’s day, so those events were pretty laid back. But overall, I was feeling healthy and human again after a killer first trimester.

I love being a bridesmaid, and I got to stand in my dear friend Breanna’s wedding in June (while seven months pregnant!)

July was time for baby showers. I LOVED mine. So many friends and family there to support us and our (at the time unknown) son or daughter.

Our pantry transformed into a nursery was wrapped and ready to go by August. We are still in awe of how unproductively we were using that space before.

September means baby! Our son was born after a (relatively) easy labor with no complications.

While falling in love with our tiny newborn in October,  we also had the big, huge, major task of rolling out the blog’s brand new look. Seriously, the upgrade of the century, am I right?

Now we have plowed right through the holidays and starting our house hunting. Whenever I start to write this year in review post I feel nervous we did not do enough to really have had an “interesting” year or whatever. Then, once I start looking back, I realize we did do so much. See you in 2015!
