SLOW COOKER APPLESAUCE

September 14, 2017

This applesauce is delicious, homespun, and just feels good to eat. The ingredients are simple. Because apples taste good all on their own. You can make this recipe without adding anything, for really healthy, pure applesauce. (You can even leave on the skins! Ever tried it?) But, I like mine sweet. And a touch of cinnamon is where it is at. Lastly, 10 bonus points because this will make your whole house smell like autumnpalooza all day.

It is kind of like the stove top potpurris (my favorite) in that it makes that lovely aroma. Except this actually produces food you can eat at the end too.

This recipe calls for sixteen apples, which is about five pounds. Orchard trip, anyone? Or just use grocery store ones, no one will mind.

I just love the idea of using the crockpot. I have a large one so can double the recipe. Just started my third double batch.

I love the look of your apple sauce. What size slow cooker did you use?

  • Kacy

What kind of apples do you use?

Honeycrisp! If I can afford it. Or gala

  • Lovely. Reminds me of Cinnamon Apple Chutney, except that has flakes of chili to give it an extra kick. Great photo by the way. Has a nice rustic look with that string around the bottle.

Hi! I love this recipe but I don’t have a crock pot. This recipe has been the final push though for me to get one but I’m not sure how big it has to be. Any suggestions on what size the slow cooker could fit 8 apples?

  • Yum! Just discovered your blog, everything looks amazing. Have you tried freezing this? Just wondering if that would hurt the flavor at all. Can’t wait to experiment with different types of apples!

Thank you! I have never frozen this, but I would suspect it would work. Let me know if you try it and how it goes.
