ORANGE BALSAMIC SLOW COOKER ROAST

October 30, 2013

Lots of you have occasionally sent over a question to me regarding church life. Maybe you’re looking for a church or moved to Michigan and want to know if I know of any good churches or this or that and so on.

In my effort to keep secret what city we live in (how am I doing on that?), I’ve not disclosed what church we attend. But, the Christian community of believers is something the Bible tells us is very important. And so it’s one of my passions. Here are four things Scripture says the Church should do, and I would advise are non-negotiables when you’re thinking about where to place membership. (And if you’re a Christian, you should place membership somewhere!)

  1. Has leaders (elders, deacons, and pastors) who minister the Word fully and faithfully
  2. Practices baptism and communion
  3. Uses the scriptural outline for discipline of its members
  4. Loves one another and the community – seeks to win the lost for Christ

I hope this helps, and as always I love engaging with you through comments (I’m very active there) and emails. So holla at your girl whenever you need, including if you need a nice crock pot recipe for a banging-good roast.

  • 3 quick questions.

So you’re only using the zest of the orange?
Also when I told my husband I was making pot roast for the first time, he suggested I make sure it had carrots. (His memory of pit roast includes carrots) thoughts on that? I didn’t want to need up your recipe so I was thinking maybe roasted and served on the side.
Lastly in a similar situation, my mother suggested I add a bay leaf or two.

    Thoughts?

New to your site but love it!

Thanks Danielle! Carrots and bay leaf would be fine additions. I used only the orange zest, but throwing some juice in would be great too!

Have you ever made this without potatoes? Just wondering if you think it will come out the same. Thank you–so glad I found you website (linked from Pinterest)

Thanks Heather! Yes, I think that would be fine.
