FRUIT AMERICAN FLAG

July 3, 2020

I’m the not BIGGEST firework shows viewing person. I think fireworks are more of a fun addition to an event than the whole event itself. Like when they’re a punctuation mark to a wedding. Or on a boat. Do you know what I mean? But, setting off my own? That’s spectacular. I love fourth of july! This fruit thing is very fun. My thought for making it nicer than some fruit american flags is to use lots of variety instead of just three or so fruits.

I served mine on a baking sheet just as a fruit board appetizer. BUT you could put the whole thing on top of a vanilla cake. Or angel food cake!!

Happy fourth of july! Or memorial day! Or veterans day!

I like this, but I think I’d make a “crust” of Greek yogurt & crunched-up healthy whole grain organic cookies. That would help it “set” & not become just a tossed fruit salad after the 2nd helping!

      Great idea! Thanks Sunny.

I really love this idea and would love to make it for the 4th of July. However, I’m worried about the bananas turning brown. How do you prevent this?

    • Kim Noding

I’m thinking a quick dip in lemon juice would keep the bananas from browning…

Love the idea, but how do you keep the bananas from turning brown?

  • Love this & love that it’s super easy! And, I totally agree with you, I usually find fireworks displays pretty boring!

    • Rachel Schultz

Haha! Thanks, glad to know I’m not the only one.

  • I love this idea! I would have never thought of this. I always find your recipes to be quite good, and I especially love the ones that are healthy. Thanks for sharing. Y’alls apartment is coming together quite nicely. My husband and I are currently remodeling our place. In the grand scheme of things, it’s estimated to take alot of time and money, but we’re patient. So far, we have three rooms completed and 4 more to go. Can’t wait till it’s done. We are gonna put up pics when we are done. Btw, nice profile pic! I haven’t actually stopped by your site lately…just check out the emails everyday so I may be a little late. God Bless you and your husband and have a wonderful day!

      Melinda,

Thanks so much! Congrats on your remodel and thanks for reading :)

  • I love this idea, I’m not a big cake eater, so this would definitely be a nice change to the normal sheet cake with fruit.

    • Rachel Schultz

      Yes! I agree.
