DINING ROOM LIGHT BULBS

November 2, 2015

When friends came by to tour our new house, there were a couple occasions where one would tentatively ask, “…what do you think of the dining chandelier?” Once I disclosed I liked it, they indulged they really did as well.

I cannot think of any other fixtures that will be spared, but this one, with its nice bronze, is a keeper. There was one change it needed – the bulbs. (So close to just leaving something as is!, but I had to tweak.)

That photo makes me want to hiss at it like a cat. The faux candle flame bulbs date it badly, but I knew some fresher ones would give an eclectic, traditional-meets-modern look.

Oh, much better. I realized in our floor update post, I did not share any photos of the dining room floors completed.

You have to see them!

I know, the wood on wood on wood is crazy. We are working on it. I want to get rid of our orange-y, hand-me-down chairs yesterday, but my craigslist searching to find 6-8 matching ones I love is slow going. New chairs will probably be painted the wall color (white).

The table and floors will still both be wood, but any clash will be broken up with a rug. Although my motherhood state of mind has me wondering if rugs are a mistake in dining rooms and make clean up more of a hassle. Or maybe the high chairs could stay just on the wood part? I do not know what moms do here. Will probably start taking notes at other people’s houses now.

    60W bulbs? Really?
What about energy saving lamps or LEDs?
